Mike Whitney brings more than 20 years of experience in investment distribution, capital raising, and relationship management. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), broker-dealers, family offices, institutional investors, and high-net-worth clients, helping connect investors with alternative investment opportunities through a consultative, education-first approach.
He has extensive experience developing and executing national distribution strategies for private market investments, including real estate, private equity, venture capital, and other alternative asset classes. Known for his ability to simplify complex investment concepts, Mike has built long-standing relationships with financial advisors and platform partners by focusing on trust, transparency, and helping advisors identify solutions that align with their clients’ long-term objectives. His experience spans advisor engagement, platform onboarding, due diligence, sales leadership, and building distribution strategies that support sustainable growth.
At Equiton, Mike leads the firm’s advisor distribution strategy, establishing and expanding relationships with financial advisors, RIAs, and intermediary partners. He is responsible for growing Equiton’s advisor channel, helping position the firm’s private real estate investment solutions across key Advisory platforms, and creating a scalable foundation for long-term capital growth. His deep understanding of the advisor landscape and extensive network of industry relationships play a key role in advancing Equiton’s growth strategy.
Mike believes successful advisor relationships are built through education, consistency, and a long-term perspective. He is passionate about helping advisors navigate the evolving alternatives landscape and providing the knowledge and support they need to deliver differentiated investment opportunities to their clients. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and maintains Series 6, 7, 26, and 63 securities licenses, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and to helping advisors build successful, long-term client relationships.
